Sammy's explanation for the corked bat is extremely lame! Fans and officials are embarassed and mortified! Then there's the matter of his King of the Clubhouse behavior! Sportswriters and teammates are annoyed by the music that blares out of his boombox! After Cubs blow 2004 wild card, Sammy ducks out on team during final game of season! Cubs trade him in off-season-- to Baltimore, for Jerry Hairston!
One reason Cubs wanted to unload him: salary! Trading Sosa lets Cubs cut payroll significantly! (Even though they'll pay some of his Oriole salary!)		Another reason might be fear, suspicion and doubt! Allegations of steroid use widespread after 2004 season! Names like Giambi, Bonds, McGwire and Canseco mentioned!
Sammy leaves Chicago with some fans glad that he's gone and others saying how do we replace his bat?
Note-- Sammy bats .221 for the O's in 2005, with 14 HRs. He sits out 2006, then hits HR #600 in 2007 as a Texas Ranger.
