It was hard to take these people seriously. They wanted Major League Baseball to accept
their 8-team Continental League as a third league that would vie for a spot in the World
Series via some tricky playoff system-- unreal!
But in a few short years there was a new team in New York--the Mets-- and a new team in Houston
